Your allowance depends on your ticket

There is no single rule. Hold and cabin allowances vary by airline and by the fare type purchased. On our programs the airline is shown on the offer page: check the exact allowance on your ticket, and ask us if unsure — it avoids an excess charge at the desk on departure day.

One principle holds: an overweight bag is paid for at the counter, often dearly. Weigh it at home first.

What gets stopped in the cabin

• Liquids above the permitted size: shower gel, perfume, oils. Put them in the hold.
• Sharp objects, including nail scissors and clippers — a security classic.
• Medication: allowed, but keep it in its original box with the prescription, especially for chronic treatment.
• Power banks must travel in the cabin, never in the hold.

Bringing Zamzam home: the recurring question

This is the most misunderstood point. Zamzam water does not go in an ordinary bag. It travels in an official sealed container, and each airline applies its own rule on the quantity allowed per passenger and how it is checked in.

Three habits:
1. Buy the sealed container intended for it — a self-filled container is refused.
2. Check your airline's rule for that specific flight, not a rule heard from another pilgrim.
3. Don't put it in your suitcase: it is checked in separately.

Remember that drinking Zamzam on site is free and unlimited (see our article on money on site) — the container is a gift to bring back, not a necessity.
