A group Umrah takes preparation
Performing Umrah as a family — parents, children, grandparents — is a profound experience, but different from travelling solo. Documents, budget, room choice and above all the pace need forethought. Here are the essentials.
Documents: one passport per person
Every family member needs their own valid passport (at least 6 months), infants and children included. There is no "registered on a parent's passport." Prepare recent ID photos for each, too. Budget: family rooms make the difference
This is the biggest lever. Pricing is per person and per room type: the more shared the room, the lower the per-person price.
- Double room: the most expensive per person.
- Triple, quad, quint: ideal for a family — the per-person cost drops sharply.

Travelling with children
- A hotel near the Haram changes everything. With children, walking 50 or 200 metres instead of a kilometre avoids exhaustion — hence the distance-to-Haram shown for each hotel in our comparison.

Travelling with elderly or reduced-mobility parents
Umrah is entirely possible for elders, even with reduced mobility:
- Wheelchairs are available at the Grand Mosque (free, or with a paid assistance service on site) for tawaf and sa'i.
- Proximity to the Haram matters even more for an older person — favour a nearby tier.
- The Al‑Haramain high-speed train makes the Makkah–Madinah trip far more restful than a long bus.
